3D Printing

3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, is a technology that creates three-dimensional objects by adding materials layer by layer. Compared with traditional subtractive manufacturing, 3D printing can design and produce complex shapes more flexibly and is widely used in various industries.

The main principles of 3D printing

Modeling: Using computer-aided design (CAD) software to create a three-dimensional digital model of an object, or by scanning an existing object with a 3D scanner to create a model.
Slicing: Breaking down a three-dimensional model into layers of two-dimensional slices, the slicing software generates detailed printing instructions and paths to guide the printer to build the object layer by layer.

Printing: The 3D printer adds materials layer by layer to create an object according to the instructions in the slice file. The materials can be various substances such as plastic, metal, ceramic, resin, etc.

Learn more about 3D printing

3D printing is a revolutionary manufacturing technology that enables the production of complex objects by adding material layer by layer.

The main process of 3D printing

Create or download a 3D model.
Process the model with slicing software and generate G-code or other printing instructions.
Load the material into the 3D printer.
Start the printing process, and the printer builds the object layer by layer according to the instructions.
After the print is completed, perform post-processing (such as support removal, washing and curing).

Types of 3D Printing

Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM): Builds objects layer by layer by heating and extruding thermoplastic filaments. It is the most common 3D printing technology and is suitable for personal and home use.
Stereolithography (SLA): Uses laser to solidify liquid resin and builds objects by solidifying layer by layer. It can produce high-precision complex models and is often used in jewelry and medical fields.

Types of 3D Printing

Selective Laser Sintering (SLS): Uses laser to melt powder materials (such as plastic or metal) and sinter them layer by layer. It is suitable for the production of functional parts.
Digital Light Processing (DLP): Similar to SLA, but uses a projected light source to solidify the resin. It can solidify multiple points in a layer at the same time, thereby increasing the printing speed.
